Doug, I was just looking at your trip tracker. Looks like you hit 5000 meters yesterday! Man, how's the air up there? At least it looks relatively flat the rest of the way to Cuzco.

I said it when I talked to you last, and I'll say it again: You are doing a tremendous job. Stay strong mentally and everything else will fall into place. Optimism til the end!
You will get into sync with the mountains. Might be slower, but it WILL be steady. Onward and, literally, UPWARD!

Ola amigo vencedor! The sadness on TransAmazonica has been compensated by the Trans-Oceanic roadway welcoming to you into Peru. The picture posted above intersecting point- of Brazil-Peru-Bolivia, is my favorite picture so far. Keep up with the nice posts.

Pete got me thinking, can you ride a wheelie no handed yet?

How is the mountain biking in that area? I know they have a downhill mtb race somewhere in Peru each year...descending almost 10,000 vertical feet!

Stay warm as your journey takes you uphill.

Another great read man! Love the nicknames for you guys while you were at the bar! You can't make that stuff up! Stay strong and possibly consider purchasing some different shoes for the mountains, Ha!

Fun times with your adventures on the borderlands - it is good to see you so engaged with the people you meet, as I had first thought this trip was going to be all rugged individualism with sparse contact with people, but now, tourists, decked out in expedition attire no less!

Interesting to see your journey come from the heat and dust of the early days ramping up to climb the heights of the Andes in Peru. Will it be all Peru for the rest of the way to the coast?
